History
Creed Fragrances is an Anglo-French multi-national niche perfume house, based in Paris. It was originally established as a tailoring business in London in 1760 by James Henry Creed. Olivier Creed later created the first fragrance under the Creed name, which was a classic eau de cologne along with a matching aftershave.
Creed became popular in the mid-1980s with their fragrance called Green Irish Tweed. During this time, they started using images of long-dead celebrities in their ads to enhance the brand's image. The first Creed perfume trademark was registered in France in 1979. The brand has also claimed to create perfumes specifically for celebrities and famous politicians.

Oliver Creed
When Henry senior passed away in 1949, James and a young Olivier Creed took over The House of Creed. Olivier is known for creating the popular fragrance Aventus and has greatly expanded the business from 1,000 bottles to its current success. In Creed's First Edition Book, Olivier shares how his grandmother helped him by giving him a bottle mold, and his father encouraged him to follow his passion for fragrances. Today, Olivier and his son Erwin create handmade perfumes in their factory in Fontainebleau.
